Digital Dashboard

Features: UX/UI, Wireframe Templating, Prototyping

Tools: Mural, Adobe XD

Timeline: November 2022 - December 2022

Background:

This client is a frequent traveler who wanted to create a digital dashboard to present their travel habits to various agents. They approached me with the idea of creating a digital dashboard that would present this information visually.

The goal of this project was to create a digital dashboard that would showcase travel data in a visually appealing and organized manner. The dashboard had to be easy to understand and use, as it would be presented and navigated by several professionals. The dashboard also had to be flexible, allowing the user to update and change the data as needed.

Process:

I began this process by researching different data visualization techniques and exploring various design styles.

Then I used wireframes to map out the dashboard's layout and determine the most effective way to display the data. I allowed fellow design colleagues to give feedback and help me decide which data points were most important to include in the dashboard and what layout would be best suited for this project.

Next, I created a visual identity for the dashboard, using a combination of aesthetically pleasing typography, colors, and icons, and experimenting with “Light Mode” versus “Dark Mode” visual data design. Based on client meetings and visual research, I made executive design decisions, such as having a blue and green color scheme and designing in “Dark mode.” I decided on blue and green as my main colors because I noticed that was the trend among the travel color palettes I have seen, and the client has traveled to beachy destinations. I decided to design a “dark mode” layout because of their personal preference and the graphs stood out better on a darker background as opposed to a lighter one.

Once the design was completed, I began to build the interactions using Adobe XD prototyping and other web development tools. I created a responsive design, ensuring that the dashboard would work well on a variety of devices, including desktops, tablets, and mobile phones. I also incorporated interactive elements, such as dropdown menus and filters, to make it easier to view specific data points.

Results:

The final product was a clean and organized digital dashboard that effectively highlighted the client's travel habits and experiences. A digital dashboard was the best decision for their needs, as they wanted to present their data to the travel agents uniquely and effectively that would be responsive across all types of devices.

The client was extremely pleased with the design and loved the colors and fonts I decided upon. They also appreciated the responsiveness of the dashboard, as people would be accessing it on several types of devices. Overall, the digital dashboard was an effective tool, making it easier to display the information given in a visually appealing and organized manner.
